The history of Châteauroux-Centre Airport has always been closely linked to that of aviation and the aeronautical industry.

Certifications and Standards

REGULATED AGENT
Châteauroux-Centre Airport is an approved 'Regulated Agent' since 1 January, 2000.
It is one of only very few French airports to have applied for and received the certification. Compliance with the required ICAO standards involves different technical and human requirements.

Runway and Perimeter

  • runway: 3,500 metres x 45 metres, capable of receiving all types of aircraft
  • two taxiways – two by-pass taxiways
  • CAT 1 ILS (Category 1 Instrument Landing System))
  • runway edge lighting, high-intensity approach lighting
  • 280,000 m2 aircraft parking area, with light markers and night-time lighting
  • airport grounds entirely enclosed by perimeter security fence that meets ICAO standards, controlled access gates 
  • access to the airport is controlled by the French National Gendarmerie Air Transport Brigade
